The EPR , or Scheme (Waste Furniture Components), requires all entities that place furniture on the French market—including manufacturers, importers, marketplace sellers, and D2C brands—to finance and organize the end-of-life management of their products through an accredited eco-organization.
Since 2024, several organizations have been accredited, including Ecomaison (formerly Eco-Mobilier) and Valdelia. Both are authorized to manage household and commercial furniture waste for the 2024–2029 period. You must therefore register with one of them, or use an agent, and pay them the eco-contributions corresponding to your sales.

Ecomaison has traditionally focused on household furniture. The organization relies on a broad regional network, partnerships with the social and solidarity economy, and a multi-sector EPR approach. Its recent strategy aims to increase the supply of high-quality used furniture sourced from retailers.
Valdelia began in the commercial furniture sector. It relies on approximately 200 collection and processing service providers and more than 250 social economy partners. In 2023, 67,000 tons of furniture were processed, of which 4,400 tons were reused. The organization also funds a chair dedicated to the circular economy and plans to increase its rates in 2025.
Free pickup for businesses (hotels, offices, local governments) for orders above a certain quantity.
Organization of the sorting, reuse, repair, and recycling of used furniture.
Complete traceability of the flow from collection through to final processing.
Choosing one organization over the other does not change your obligations: a unique identifier, market release declarations, payment of eco-contributions, and retention of supporting documents remain mandatory.
Ecomaison: non-inert furniture (Scheme ). Valdelia: non-inert furniture and certain non-inert building materials.
Both organizations are accredited from 2024 to 2029.

Ecomaison: general public and household goods. Valdelia: commercial furniture (offices, hotels, public institutions).
Ecomaison: nationwide coverage and multi-sector EPR. Valdelia: extensive network of service providers and strong ties to the social and solidarity economy.
Ecomaison: focusing on expanding its selection of used furniture. Valdelia: over 4,400 tons reused in 2023.
Ecomaison: National social and solidarity economy networks. Valdelia: 200 waste collection and treatment service providers and 250 social and solidarity economy partners.
Collection, sorting, reuse, recycling, and traceability for both organizations.
• Identify all EPR streams EPR your product range (packaging, furniture, WEEE, textiles, etc.).
• Register with environmental agencies, obtain unique identifiers, and provide them to marketplaces.
• Calculate and report eco-contributions according to the rates set by Ecomaison, Valdelia, or other organizations.
• Maintain traceability and meet reporting deadlines, or face fines of up to €100,000.
